What's Chemical ecology?

"Chemical Ecology" is the study that reveals ecological systems focusing on chemicals involved in the interactions of living organisms. For example, there are plant toxic metabolites synthesized as defense substances, and some insects have developed digestion/detoxification system against them. Also there are known pheromones and hormones which can control insects at a very low dose. We analyze, synthesize, and test such physiologically acitive compounds to figure out diverse interactions and adaptive strategies between living organisms.
